CURRY USING COCONUT MILK
This dish is very easy to make yet very tasty too.When u have guests coming unexpectedly ,this for sure is worth trying.We like to have this with nir dosas.
ingredients:
onion- 1cup
tomato -1/2 cup
ginger-1tspn
coriander powder- 2tspn
chilly powder – 1tspn
turmeric powder - ½ tspn
curry leaves- 5nos
coconut milk-1 cup
salt-to taste
recipe:
In a kadai,saute onion along with ginger and curry leaves.Once raw smell disappears add the powders and saute till good aroma arises.Add tomato and leave it to become mashed up in the heat.once done add coconut milk and in small flame let it boil.If its too thick add ¼ cup water and in low flame let it boil.Garnish with coriander leaves .

spinach bhajjiyas with tamarind chutney
INGREDIENTS
Besan- 3 cups
spinach- 1 cup
ajwain- 1tbsp
turmeric powder:1tspn
green chillies- 2tbsp
hing-a pinch
baking powder-a pinch
salt- to taste
Mix all these above ingredients well.Cut spinach in to small thin strips and add in the end.Fry
in oil till golden brown color and serve with tamarind chutney
For tamarind chutney:
Grind tamarind and jaggery to fine paste.Add salt and serve with bhajjiyas.
MUSTARD CHICKEN
INGREDIENTS:
Chicken-1/2 kg
Mustard leaves- 2 cups boiled
onion -1cup
tomato -1cup
ginger garlic paste- 2tbsp
chicken masala-2 tspn
turmeric powder-1/2 tspn
chilly powder - 1 tspn
sour cream- 1tspn
salt-to required
RECIPE:
Marinate chicken in salt , pepper powder(1/2 tspn) and lemon juice(2tspn) for 1 hour
Take a kadai and add oil.Saute onion.when slightly brown add ggpaste.Stir until the raw smell goes.Then add tomato accompanied by the powders.stir well.Close and allow tomatoes to become pureed in the gravy.Add chicken and let it cook for 10mts.
Grind the leaves coarsely and add to the gravy.Allow chicken to cook well.Remove rom heat and add cream.Goes well with rice and rotis.
ROASTED POTATO AND BEANS
RECIPE:
Cut potato in circle shape after removing skin.Then marinate it with turmeric powder , chilly powder and salt.Rub the tawa well with oil.when its hot,add the potatoes and fry both sides till done.
Similarly take frozen whole french beans and marinate well similarly as above.Fry them till it wilts and gets cooked.Serve as a side dish for rice.

After initially preparing the chicken gravy and 3/4th boiled rice i assembled evrything and cooked them using 'DUM' method for 25mts or till you see steam coming out from top.

PESARATTU AND GROUNDNUT CHUTNEY
Ingredients:
rice:2cups
green moong dal:1/2 cup
onion:2tbsp
jeera:1/2tspn
coriander leaf:3tbspn
Grind all these together and make dosas.
Groundnut chutney:
peeled and roasted groundnut:1cup
red chilly :2 nos.(nicely roasted in oil till raw smell goes)
ginger:1/2tspn
pearl onion:3 small bulbs
salt to taste
tamarind:small piece
grind all these together to fine paste.
EGG and SANDWICH
GREEN CHUTNEY
Coconut grated-1cup
green chilly-1 medium sized
ginger-1/2 tspn
pearl onion:2 small in number
salt as required
lime juice-to taste
Grind all together to fine paste.spread on a bread and make a sandwich.
Chole and puri
Puris should be made immediately after preparing the dough.We prefer small puris like these.I have seen D'aunty(shes a gujarati)prepare these in batches for a whole day.A very good cook and a wonderful host ,this post is for her.
Red cabbage and capsicum stir fry
Red cabbage is one nutritious beautiful vegetable.Stir fry cabbage and capsicum along with onion to be used with rotis or rice.A very simple dish relished by all in my family.
Ingredients
Red cabbage:2cups cut into strips
capsicum:1 cup cut into strips
onions:two medium sized cut in to thin strips
sesame seed:1tspn
turmeric powder:1pinch
Tomato soup powder:1 tspn
greenchilly:1 in number slit in the middle.
Recipe:
Heat oil in a kadai and add onions and greenchilly.Saute for 2 mts and add cabbage.Nicely stir it until it wilts a bit.Once done add capsicum and again stir well.Add sesame seed,turmeric powder and tomato soup powder and keep the lid closed in medium-low heat.It will take about 8mts to completely cook well.once done garnish well with coriande leaf.

One thing i admire about US grocery is the variety of green leaves they keep in abundance.
Fresh and beautiful,more tempting to use in one go. My 's' and lil 'v' loves spinach. When i had some left over spinach,i tried it with angel hair pasta .
Ingredients:
angel hair pasta-cooked well to use(2 cups)
spinach-4cups
onion-1/2 cup
tomato-1cup
ginger-garlic paste-1tbsp
turmeric powder-a pinch
Mc cormicks taco seasoning-1/2 tspn
Sour cream-3tbsp
Recipe:
Spinach should be boiled in microwave for 8minutes and ground in a mixie.Make sure you dont grind it to a fine paste.Make sure its done coarsely .
Add oil in a kadai. Put the onions and let it turn brownish. Then add ggpaste and fry till raw smell disappears. Add taco seasoning and turmeric powder along with tomato.Once tomato gets mushy add ground spinach.Let it simmer for 2 minutes.Add pasta then.Stir everything till masala is nicely coated.Turn off heat and add sour crem.Mix well and serve.

sabudana kichdi
SABUDANA KICHDI
Sabudana kichdi is very easy to prepare.In north india it is prepared to end the fast.
But we love it for breakfast and dinner.
recipe:
sabudana-1 cup soaked in water for 4 hours.
jeera -1tpsn
roasted peanut powder-1/4 cup
turmeric powder-a pinch
greenchilli-1tbsp
Heat oil in a kadai. Add jeera and let it splutter. Put greenchilly and soaked sabudana.In medium-low heat let it cook for 5mts .Cover it well.Once 3/4th done add peanut powder and mix well.Remove from heat and garnish with coriander leaves.
TACO DELIGHT
How many times have you munched on a taco and thought of having more?.Well,we have done it numerous times.S loves taco and when i came across taco shells in walmart i thot why not make it.More than anything this would save lot of time preparing dinner .Some crunchy tacos and a bollywood movie would surely make a happy movie time.

taco shells:8nos
red kidney bean:8oz can
cumin seed:1tspn
sour cream:3tbspn
taco seasoning:1tspn
Seasoning ingredients:
onion:1cup
tomato:1cup
greenchillies-2tspns
Take a kadai and add 3tspn oil.Add cumin seed and taco seasoning powder .After few seconds add kidney beans.saute for few minutes and add sourcream.Mix well and remove the kadai from heat.
Mix the seasoning ingredients together.Fill taco shell and decorate with seasonings.
Taco ready .
